Light by design.
For the things you carry.
And the moments you notice.

Less to carry.
More to notice.
It began with a camera,
a long walk and a simple need.
When Christopher Drake went out making street photographs, he wanted a bag that felt light, moved quietly and made it easy to reach what mattered.
Room for a changing day. Soft surfaces against precious gear and clothing. A strap that could sit close or hang long. Useful details, with a shape worth wearing.
That first bag became the starting point for Monofloat.
Soft on your things.
Easy on your day.
Carry lightly.
Soft nylon and a pared-back construction, designed to keep the bag itself from becoming the load.
Move quietly.
Concealed magnetic closures and a zipper-free interior. A quieter approach to carrying and reaching in.
Make a little room.
A flexible body that gives with what goes inside, with a generous opening and a high front wall.
The thought
is in the details.
Inside our first crossbody design.
Choose a detail to explore.
One soft material.
Inside and out.
The same soft nylon continues through the lining, closing the gaps and covering the surfaces your belongings touch. A considerate place for the things you value.
Pocket empty. Left open. Right folded. Each panel moves independently.
A little order.
Or an open space.
The proposed layout has two soft panels sewn into the inside front wall. Each would open and fold independently. Use one, use both, or fold them flat for one open space.
Each free edge would meet the front of the inside pocket, below its flap. A small fold near that edge is intended to take up the change in reach as the pocket fills, leaving the flap free to open above it. A fuller pocket reduces the usable depth of the main compartment.
Tiny, concealed magnets are proposed for both the open and folded positions, with only enough hold to keep the panels in place.
The same soft nylon throughout. The attachment and fold need to be tested with a phone and wallet in a physical sample.
Wear it close.
Let it hang.
Permanently attached. Adjustable in length. The wide strap is sewn into the bag at both ends, with the same soft cloth feel throughout. Adjust it for a shorter carry or a longer crossbody fit.
Soft cloth where it meets your clothes. No separate shoulder pad, just one continuous idea.
Explore the strapOne colour.
Every detail.
Monochrome gives the shape, texture and movement their own space. Our first concept is shown in black.
Why this shape?
A light, soft approach to carrying, expressed in one colour. The diagonal flap, wide strap and flexible rectangular body give the design its character. A small black embroidered monofloat follows the angle of the flap.
Is it a dedicated camera bag?
Street photography is where it began. It is an everyday bag with soft surfaces and fold-flat dividers, giving you flexibility in what you carry. Fit and protection will be assessed with the final sample.
When can I get one?
The crossbody is still in development. Its final materials, dimensions, strap range and availability will be confirmed through sampling. The other items are concepts to explore.
Concepts being considered.
The bag comes first. These are some of the ideas we are considering next, shaped by the same light, soft approach to carrying. These are early explorations, with forms and details still to be developed.
